Functional genomics studies of malaria drug resistance;
My laboratory is currently seeking a new member for a postdoctoral research
position to carry out functional genomics studies of malaria drug resistance. We
are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic candidate to study molecular aspects
of malaria drug resistance that is currently emerging in Southeast Asia involving
both artemisinin as well as the partner drugs of the artemisinin combination
therapies. The research will include transcriptomics and other functional
genomics analyses of filed samples from the Greater Mekong Subregion as well
as laboratory based molecular and cellular biology studies of Plasmodium
falciparum parasites. This research project will provide an opportunity for the
candidate to combine laboratory based experimental research with genomic
epidemiology of malaria in the field (Southeast Asia region). We are seeking a
candidate that is capable of conducting independent experimental projects but
also to function as a team leader within our research group. High-level skills in
molecular and cellular biology are required while previous experience with
Plasmodium parasites research and/or genomics and transcriptomics are
preferred but not absolutely needed.

Applicant should have a PhD degree in Biosciences or related courses. The position requires a highly motivated individual who has both drive and initiatives. The starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
