Several postdoctoral positions are available immediately at Prof. James P Tam’s laboratory from the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (http://www.sbs.ntu.edu.sg/). Prof. Tam was the founding dean and director of School of Biological Sciences, NTU Drug Discovery Center, and the double-degree program in Biomedical Science and Chinese Medicine.
His research focuses on herbalomics, protein engineering, and discovery of bioactive peptides from medicinal plants as potential therapeutics. The laboratory is well equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for peptide chemistry, proteomics and herbalomics study.
Research involves isolation and structural characterization of peptidyl and proteinaecous natural products and chemical synthesis. Candidates with strong background and experience in one of the following areas are encouraged to apply.
- Peptide chemistry and solid phase synthesis of cysteine-rich peptides such as defensins, cyclotides and conotoxins.
- Isolation and characterization of peptidyl natural products and large scale extraction of medicinal plants. Candidates with experienced in strong analytical techniques would be a plus.
- Molecular and cell biology in signal transduction
Applicant should have a PhD degree in Biosciences or related courses. The position requires a highly motivated individual who has both drive and initiatives. The starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
Qualified applicants should send their CV and a short statement of research interests to Ms Yee Lee Choo at ELCYEE@ntu.edu.sg .
We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
